Second Grade Update - Feb. 29

After a slight delay for a tornado drill, we launched into our seventh lesson of Hands-On Equations.  This lesson introduced the white pawns.  Right now this doesn't mean anything different than it did to have blue pawns.  We'll move into the blue and white pawns becoming opposites.  We'll do this rather slowly.  Everyone did a great job again today.  Mrs. Blumberg came into see our lesson and was impressed with the work the children were able to accomplish.

We also tried to figure out the student made rhymes in pictures.  Each child was given a set of the rhymes and they can share those with you.  We moved on to visual codes.  We worked together to solve one code then I gave the students one to solve on their own.  Most have made a good start and a few finished the code.  If your child didn't finish decoding the message they should finish that for next week.  Also, once they decode the message they need to complete the code page.  Not all 26 letters are used in the message and so the children need to figure out what the code would be for those letters not used in the message.  Please see that these come back next week.
